A delegation from University of Al-Maarif participated in a workshop on Shanghai rankings for universities and academic disciplines, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with University of Baghdad.
The workshop dealt with the Shanghai rankings criteria and focused on scientific research for publication in sober journals, the number of research citations and the number of global awards received by lecturers. It also presented strategies for the development of academic and research performance with a view to enhancing the positions of Iraqi universities in international rankings.
The workshop featured presentations and talk sessions that included discussing successful experiences of global universities that were able to improve the ranking and strategies for the dissemination of research and international cooperation. Iraq’s scientific research and recommendations for improving research performance were also reviewed, stressing the importance of providing financial support to researchers with a focus on building international partnerships to upgrade Iraqi universities.
