Vision:
The Department of Law at Al-Maarif University College seeks to occupy a distinguished and leading position among the law departments in academic institutions inside and outside Iraq and to be a destination for those who seek knowledge of the principles of the legal profession and specialization in this field.
Mission:
The mission of the department is to provide the best scientific and academic methods, to be a destination for attracting competencies and specialized cadres, and to prepare study programs with solid teaching methods to achieve spreading the culture of the rule of law, strengthen the requirements for achieving justice, protecting public rights and freedoms, and crystallizing legal ideas in a way that contributes to addressing issues that society suffers from or produced by reality.
Objectives:
- To achieve creativity and distinction in the field of law in its various branches based on preparing the requirements to achieve this by international scientific standards.
- To prepare legal cadres equipped with the scientific requirements that qualify them to enter the field of legal work with professionalism.
- To prepare legal elites cadres capable of pursuing postgraduate studies within the various branches of law, in a way that provides the community with future academic competencies.
- To contribute to building a societal legal culture through active participation in spreading legal thought based on conferences, seminars, and legal workshops in cooperation and participation with academic institutions, country units, and civil society institutions.
- To develop scientific research and exchange ideas and experiences with law departments in various academic institutions, both internally and externally, in a way that contributes to achieving scientific sobriety and achieving the highest quality standards.
Alumni Description
Graduates of the law department who hold a bachelor’s degree in law qualify to join human rights unions and syndicates such as the Jurists’ Association and the Iraqi and Arab Law Union, and they have the right to pursue being a lawyer or apply for admission to the Judicial Institute in accordance with the conditions set for admission to it. In addition, they are able to pursue higher studies. Also, they may apply for jobs in the various state official units.
