Catered by the Dean of Al-Maarif University College, Prof. Dr. Yaqoub Nazim Ahmed, On Sunday, 20/06/2021, Al-Maarif University College Chess Championship was launched, in cooperation between the Student Activities Unit, the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and the Iraqi Chess Federation / Anbar Branch.
Fifty (50) contestants have participated in the tournament.
At the beginning of the tournament, the Dean of Al-Maarif University College delivered a speech in which he stressed the need to pay attention to such activities that serve the community and contribute to raising awareness among young people. The Dean added, “We seek to make the second tournament as an international tournament under the auspices of Al-Maarif University College.”
He extended his welcome and thanks to the attendees for their contribution to the success of this tournament.
The representative of the President of the Anbar Chess Federation, Dr. Mofeed, spoke; He valued the role of Al-Maarif University College in organizing such activities that serve the community. He praised the high organization and great support in organizing this tournament.
