Based on the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Al-Maarif University College creates a support unit for students with special needs (people of determination).
This unit is the first and pioneering building block in Al-Maarif University College. It aims to provide services to people with special needs, and to contribute to community awareness about accepting a person with special needs in the college, providing all the supplies that will help him complete his studies, and preserving and defending the basic rights of people with special needs, and the idea began. Given the need of our children with special needs to introduce society to them, integrate them into normal life, harness all capabilities, meet their needs, and alleviate their suffering, through a system of programs, services, activities, qualitative initiatives, rehabilitative, social, and health services, unifying all relevant energies, integrating sectors, and organizing their work under… One roof to serve this group, as this idea was launched by specialists in special education and with the participation of a group willing and interested in humanitarian work to serve this group and extend a helping hand to them to complete their academic journey. The city of Ramadi is an undisputed, bright beacon of humanitarian work and deserves all our love, loyalty and giving.

Proper treatments for dealing with people with special needs, providing them with their supplies, and helping them complete their academic career.

Organizing academic and civil society efforts in research and study on people with disabilities and special needs in order to assist them in all fields, whether infrastructure or modern scientific educational methods, in order to integrate them into the university and social community.
Unit objectives:
The unit seeks to enable people with special needs to improve the quality of their social and academic lives and the lives of their families in order to accept them as useful individuals in society.
Coordinating the university, as a sponsor of the activities of the Unit for Supporting Students with Special Needs, on the one hand, and the colleges, which are where students are located, in implementing activities and organizing efforts aimed at introducing them and their problems and overcoming them.
Holding dialogue seminars, training workshops, and educational lectures that work to train and develop the abilities and abilities of students with special needs and introduce them to them, delivered by professors specialized in human medicine and social psychology.
Providing parking spaces for their cars or wheels
Providing ways to assist them in walking around the university campus and in their resting places.
General activities of the unit:
Work to make the unit a focus of cooperation among all experts working at Al-Maarif University College in their various specializations, and for the unit to be the focus of current and future cooperation with partners at the local, national, regional and international levels.
Educating specialists and families throughout Nineveh Governorate so that they can benefit from information and methods of assistance for people with special needs that work to support them and provide their requirements, whether local or international organizations.

Director of the Student Affairs and Registration Department as general supervisor.

Conducting seminars and short courses periodically on vital topics of interest to this group
Providing publications and brochures that increase the level of psychological awareness for this group.
Communicating with deans of colleges and heads of scientific departments to raise awareness of the committee’s work and facilitate communication with them.
Activating group workshops on psychological and educational topics and aspects.
Discussing socially and morally objectionable phenomena and developing rapid intervention plans.
