- Pursuant to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Al-Maarif University College established a support unit for students with special needs (People of Determination).
This unit is the leading unit in the College aimed at providing services for people with special needs to contribute for raising society’s awareness of the acceptance of persons with special needs in college and to provide them with all the requirements to complete their studies; Preserving and defending the fundamental rights of persons with special needs, the idea began in view of the need for our children with special needs to familiarize society with them and integrate them into normal life, and harnessing all possibilities and meeting their needs and alleviating their suffering through a system of quality programmers, services, activities and initiatives rehabilitation, social and health services, consolidation of all relevant capacities and integration between sectors and organization of their work under one roof to serve this category. This idea was initiated by specialists in special education and with the participation of a group willing and interested in humanitarian work to serve this group and help them to complete their studies.

Well treatments to deal with persons with special needs, provide them with their requirements and help them complete their scientific career.
Unit message:
Organizing academic and civil society efforts in research and study on persons with disabilities and special needs in order to assist them in all fields, whether infrastructure or modern scientific teaching methods, in order to integrate them into university and social society.
Unit objectives:
The Unit seeks to enable persons with special needs to improve the quality of their social, scientific and family life by accepting them as useful members of society.
– Coordinating the College as a sponsor of the activities of the Special Needs Students Support Unit on the one hand and the colleges where students are present in the implementation of the events and organizing efforts to familiarize them with their problems and overcome them.
– Seminars, training workshops and educational lectures that train and develop the abilities and abilities of students with special needs and are known to them by professors specializing in human medicine and social psychology.
– Provide parking spaces or wheels.
– Provide helpful ways to walk on campus and resting places.
General Activities of the Unit:
Work to make the Unit a hub for collaboration among all experts working at the College in their various disciplines, and be the focus of current and future cooperation with partners at the local, national, regional and international levels.

Supporting the use of modern technologies in the field of distance learning with people with special needs
Organizational structure of the unit:
– Manager of Student Affairs and Registration Department is a General Supervisor.
– Unit Officer and Manager Officer for Unit Management and Liaison between General Superintendent and Staff.
– Staff of sociology and psychology graduates.
The Mechanism Working of the Unit:
– Building community partnerships with accredited academic institutions with the same mission.
-Regular seminars and short courses on vital topics of interest to this category.
-Provide leaflets that increase the level of psychological awareness of this category.
– Communicate with heads of departments to raise awareness of the Committee’s work and facilitate communication with them.
– Activate group workshops in psychological and educational subjects and aspects.
– Discuss socially and morally rejected phenomena and develop rapid intervention plans.
