On Thursday, 16th May 2024, the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Maarif University College held an awareness seminar entitled (The Scourge of Drugs and its Impact on Families and Society), in collaboration with the Department of Medical Instruments Engineering at Al-Maarif University College. The seminar targeted young people as the group most vulnerable to this risk. It also showed the harm of drugs and its gravity to human beings, what negative effects it has, and the importance of raising awareness and continuing education by families, governmental, and civil institutions to reduce the prevalence of the drug phenomenon among young people. The seminar included several topics, including the definition of drugs, its impact on society, the types of drugs, how the family recognizes the addict and the damage to which he is subjected from the nervous and psychological system, its impact on society, as well as how to take care and stay away from it.
