On Tuesday, 12th March 2024, the Department of English Language at Al-Maarif University College organized a joint scientific seminar entitled (Defamiliarization as a Poetic Technique), given by Asst. Dr. Marwan Khalil Yousif – a lecturer in the Department, along with Asst. Lec. Shamam Ishmail Atiwi- Department of English Language, and Asst. Lec. Alia Abd Muhsin – Section of Contribution and Public Relations – University of Anbar, addressing the inoperability of the technique of alienation. The workshop focused on exploring how this technique presents common notions in a new, unfamiliar light to provoke fresh insights and reflections. The seminar was engaged based on the scientific cooperation between Al-Maarif University College and other public and governmental institutions to raise the scientific knowledge within the college.
