Law Department
Department of Law is considered as one of the early departments that have been established at Al-Maaref University College. Its foundation is the result of the urgent requirement to provide society with law experts to help spread legal ideas, reinforcing justice, and preserving rights. The basis of society-building is by ensuring a lawful relation between citizens, which puts an end to disputed issues for conflicting interests. It is not possible to have a well-developed society if there is no legal awareness. Therefore, the department has achieved in providing distinguished skilful legal staff like college professors, magistrates, lawyers, legal section employees, besides spreading the legal awareness since its establishment

Vision:
Department of Law at Al-Maarif University College has gained a distinguished and top rank amongst other departments in academic institutions inside and outside Iraq. It is considered the destination of those willing to master and specialize in legal issues.
Mission:
The mission set forth by the department is to gain the best scientific and academic means to attract competent and specialized staff; arrange solid study curricula to ensure lawful enforcement policy; enhance application of justice, public rights and duties preservation; develop legal ideas that help solving some of the inferred issues or current occurrences.
Objectives:
Department of Law has set goals to be achieved, namely:
- Using the required facilities in accordance with international scientific standards in achieving distinction and excellence.
- Preparing legal staff qualified to work professionally and skillfully.
- Preparing legal elites to pursue higher studies in different specialties to enrich society with future qualified staff.
- Participating in developing societal legal culture by effective contribution in spreading legal ideas in holding conferences, symposiums, workshops in cooperation with academic institutions, state directorates, and civil society institutions.
- Developing scientific research and exchanging ideas and experience with different inside and outside academic institutions which help in achieving scientific standardization.
Alumni Description:
Graduates of the law department who hold a bachelor’s degree in law qualify them to join human rights unions and syndicates such as the Jurists’ Association and the Iraqi and Arab Law Union, and they have the right to pursue being a lawyer or apply for admission to the Judicial Institute in accordance with the conditions set for admission to it. In addition, they are able to pursue their higher studies. Also, they may apply for jobs in the various state official units.
