On Sunday, 10th September 2023, the championship of Iraqi finals – the first round for men and women was launched at Al-Maarif University College in the hall of Ahmed Radi. The championship was attended by the Asst. Dean for Administrative Affairs Dr. Muthana Abd Al-Wahab, the Asst. Dean for Scientific Affairs Dr. Mahmood Abd Al-Razaq, the Head of the Department of Sport Science Dr. Muneer Abdullah, Head of the Central Chess Federation Mr. Dhafir Abd Al-Ameer, and member of the Central Federation, the Central Region Official Mr. Yousif Yassine Husain, as well as several sport academic members. The dean’s associates and the federation’s head inspected the participating players from all governorates and provided everything needed to the participants under the supervision of the committee. At the end, all participants thanked and praised the Deanship of the College for supporting such activities.
