On Saturday, 2nd March 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering at Al-Maarif University College held a scientific seminar entitled (Basic Principles for Road Design). The seminar discussed several geometric topics about road designing, the most important of which are: – Identify the types of structural failure in tiling layers and their causes and ways of preventing them. – Factors influencing road design as per the requirements of the AASHTO. – How to obtain the characteristics of tiling layers by examining the Californian tolerance ratio and how to raise the endurance ratio of the soil. – Identify methods for designing tiling layers. This seminar was held based on the activities of Al-Maarif University College, in cooperation with the Union of Iraqi Engineers – Al-Anbar Branch.
