On Saturday, 11th November 2023, the Department of Medical Instruments Engineering Technology at Al-Maarif University College held a scientific seminar entitled (Using computers in the development and design of medical devices), which was given by Asst. Lec. Mohammed Dera’ Ali, and Asst. Lec. Salah Shihab Hamad. Asst. Lec. Mohammed Dera’ Ali spoke about computers and its relating to medical devices, programming languages, and computing devices that enter the medical field, such as a surgical robot, which is considered one of the most important medical devices that enter the field of technology, where it can perform complex and remote operations under the supervision of a specialist such as brain operations, adding the embryo detection device to detect early fetal conditions, also spoke about the areas of the use of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine:
- Medical image processing.
- Processing of vital signals.
- Biometric processing.
Asst. Lec. Salah Shihab Hamad spoke about anesthesia devices, ventilators, cardiac monitors, catheters and cardiac interventions, and the cases faced by the medical device engineer in the operating galleries that require follow-up:
